When I learned how to make quillows in 1990 this is when I realized I found my niche. I made three for the Black History Month craft fair but it rained that day and I couldn't display them. Detemined to accomplish my goals and share with others I drove around with the quillows and sold them from my vehicle.
In 2000 a friend and neighbor who saw my quillows suggested that enter The Orange County Fair. The theme of the fair that year was "Hot Peppers". So I went out found hot pepper fabric and went to work creating my hot peppers quillow. That quillow won first place and from there, a business was born. I added aprons and won first place with them as well.
As my business grew, I started selling them at several church fairs and craft events where I continue to find my greatest success.
I've expanded my quillows to include different prints such as country, adventure, characters, sports teams and more. I will even take special orders. My aprons come in both sports teams and non-sports.
In 2003, I decided to enter the Orange County fair again, but this time with an apron with a matching chef's hat. The theme that year was Autumn. The apron I created had apples, tomatoes and other vegetables. Again, my apron, hat combo won first place. With that win, I knew I needed to add aprons to my business.
